Happy New Year BICS Families! The following information will inform you on some new happenings and some things we have in store for your child at BICS.
First, we would like to welcome 3 new teachers on board! Ms. Valdez will be taking over in our 5/6 classroom. We are very also happy to offer standalone 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. Ms. Gill will be teaching our first graders and Mrs. Barber will be in the second grade. All our new teachers come to us with fantastic experience and strong recommendations! We also want to wish Ms. Green and Ms. West all the best on their next exciting endeavors!
At BICS, we are committed to constantly refining and improving our practices. Our BIG academic focus this year will be in the area of Science. All teachers met over summer to review curriculum and we decided to move forward the adoption of the Discovery Science. This curriculum received state approval and fully embraces the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). We are looking forward to a full day of professional development from Discovery prior to the start of the school year. We of course, continue to benefit from previous initiatives such as Peace builders, Safe School Ambassadors, The Power of Engagement, Growth Mindset, and Visible Learning for Teachers, and the work of Dan St. Romain.
As always, we will be looking forward to working with our families throughout the year. We are also always happy to meet new families, provide tours of our beautiful campus, and share the great things that are happening here at BICS. If you or anyone you know has an interest in becoming a part of Barona Indian Charger School, please con't hesitate to get in contact with us! Our population has grown but we do have space available in 1st and 2nd grades!
Here's to a great year at BICS!
